I am just popping in to share this super easy Parker House Roll recipe with you! I love making homemade bread recipes, and I truly think that bread rolls are one of my most favourite things to make. The process is so fun, and the final product is so satisfying.

I just made a half recipe of these with one package of fresh store-bought pizza dough that was a puffy and well risen ball in a plastic bag. Straight from the refrigerator, I was able to stretch it and roll it, slather it with seasoned butter, fold, cut and put into my buttered pan. I followed the recipe exactly and they are terrific and quite buttery. When all the rolls have been shaped and arranged in a baking dish, cover the dish and let the rolls rise until puffy, about twenty to thirty minutes. Minutes later your kitchen will be smelling like glorious home-baked bread. I rose the dough as directed at room temperature, then shaped into 6 rolls and a loaf, and did the second rise in the fridge.

Brown-Butter Mashed Potatoes

I followed directions exactly, using store-bought pizza dough, but the dough didn’t rise at all. I had it in a warm spot for over 2 hours. I’m sure I did something wrong, but I won’t try these again. The rolls do not need to rise a second time once shaped. But truly, these famous Parker House Rolls are adored just as they are, which is why you'll see lots of brands make and freeze their own to sell in the bread section at the grocery store.

I often get asked if people can do the second rise in the fridge, and my answer is no. It leads to overproofing the rolls as they spend too long in the fridge, and the dough totally deflates when you go to bake it.
